Slashing
A penalty where a validator loses part of their staked crypto for acting badly or going offline.
Slashing keeps validators honest. It protects the network from lazy or malicious behavior. Most people run their validators carefully so slashing almost never happens. It's like getting a red card and losing some of your game deposit for breaking the rules during the match.
Real world: If a validator tries to cheat by approving fake transactions or just disappears, the network automatically slashes (burns) some of their staked ETH as punishment.
💡 If you're staking, use a reliable setup — slashing is rare but it stings when it hits your wallet.
