Qualified Audit Opinion
An auditor's report that says the financial statements are fairly presented except for specific issues or limitations.
A qualified opinion is not as bad as an adverse opinion but signals caution to readers. It must clearly describe the exception. Companies try to avoid it because it can affect investor confidence and loan covenants.
It's the teacher giving you an A- with a note saying 'great work, but you lost marks on this one question'.
Real world: Auditors issue a qualified opinion when inventory cannot be fully verified or there is a disagreement on one accounting policy. The rest of the statements are still considered reliable.
💡 A qualified opinion means the accounts are mostly okay but have known issues that users should note.
