Creative Destruction
The process where new innovations destroy old industries and create new ones.
Joseph Schumpeter called creative destruction the essential fact of capitalism. It is painful in the short term (jobs lost) but necessary for long-term progress. Governments sometimes try to slow it down to protect old jobs.
It's the forest fire that burns down old trees so new, stronger ones can grow.
Real world: Netflix destroyed Blockbuster video stores but created a global streaming industry and thousands of new jobs. The iPhone destroyed many camera and music player companies but created the smartphone economy.
💡 Creative destruction is how economies evolve — painful but essential.
