Accrued Revenue
Money you have earned by delivering a product or service but haven't been paid for yet.
Accrued revenue is recorded with an adjusting entry to show the true income for the period. It's an asset (usually called accounts receivable) until the cash arrives. It's like finishing a lawn-mowing job on Friday but the customer promises to pay you next week — you've earned the money even though the cash isn't in your hand.
Real world: A web design company finishes a client's website in December but doesn't get the final invoice paid until January, so it records the revenue in December.
💡 Accrued revenue keeps your books honest — you report the money you earned this month even if the check shows up next month.
