Absolute Advantage
When a country or person can produce more of a good using the same amount of resources than another.
Absolute advantage is simpler than comparative advantage. A country can have an absolute advantage in many goods but should still specialise based on comparative advantage to maximise total world output.
It's being the fastest runner on the track — you can produce more in the same time.
Real world: Saudi Arabia has an absolute advantage in oil production because of its huge, easy-to-extract reserves. It can produce oil much cheaper than most other countries.
💡 Absolute advantage is about being better; comparative advantage is about being smarter about what you focus on.
